I am striving to live life with gratitude at the forefront of my day so instead of focusing on all the dark, here’s a love letter to all the pockets of sunshine inside my heart.
Now I am not a poet whatsoever but I don’t mind how terrible this is as writing this brought me joy.
I carry pockets of sunshine in my heart,
Each one a spark
That wards the darkness away,
The smell of the rain in the air,
The lingering clinging,
The sign of growth and repair,
Moments that feel golden,
Snapshots of life kept frozen,
A fallen chair and laughter in the air,
Memories of my childhood,
Running through sprinklers in the sun,
Amateur plays and pranking fun,
The sunbeams filtering through the trees,
Stepping into a golden spotlight,
Bringing me peace,
Rewatching my favourite shows,
Friends and family laugh
As I quote the lines I know,
Words of wisdom
Passed down through the years,
Overcoming my fears,
A crack and a fizzle,
A pop and a giggle,
Sounds constantly on replay,
A private firework show of my life,
Frozen mid explosion,
I can sit and stare all day,
These golden moments characterise my day
Build my life on the joy
Not on the hurt along the way,
So when I find myself void of gratitude,
I reach into my pocket
And pull these moments from my heart.
Thanks for reading cuties!! I almost didn’t post this as I’m incapable of writing poetry but I think it’s important to stop and acknowledge the good so I’m sharing the sunshine in my heart. Comment your personal pockets of sunshine ☀️
